Hint: Carbon dioxide is a gas which is naturally present in the Earth’s atmosphere as trace gas. Its chemical formula is $C{O_2}$. Thus it contains one carbon atom and two molecules or atom of oxygen atom in it. It is produced from various sources.

Complete step-by-step answer:Since we have to see formation of carbon dioxide we must know its chemical formula which is $C{O_2}$.
Carbon dioxide is a product from one of the most important chemical reactions in the whole world that is combustion.
Combustion means that we know how so many people in the world heat their homes and how they power their cars. Unfortunately it is contributing towards the greenhouse effect and also to global warming which are current major issues to the environment.
So as we see the chemical formula, we can say that a carbon dioxide molecule is formed from one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms.
Carbon element has only $4$ outer shell electrons and oxygen element has $6$ outer shell electrons.
Double covalent bonds are formed between the atoms where two electrons from each atom are shared which make $4$ bonding electrons in total as shown:
$:\ddot O = C = \ddot O:$
The two groups of bonding electrons in carbon dioxide repel each other. This keeps the oxygen atoms as far as away from each other as much possible.
If we see the reactivity of carbon dioxide and water, carbon dioxide is less reactive than water. It is because it has two bonds with each oxygen. Hence it means that we need a lot of energy to break the atoms apart.
The carbon dioxide molecule is very stable because of its strong double bonds. So if we see that there are stray carbon and oxygen atoms flying about, they love to make bonds and get together to form carbon dioxide.
Similar as water, the bonds in carbon dioxide are polar covalent which makes the carbon atoms delta positive and oxygen delta negative. However like water, carbon dioxide is not a polar molecule completely.

Note: Carbon dioxide is a gas which is made from one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. It has two covalent bonds means that carbon formed one covalent bond with oxygen and another covalent bond with another oxygen keeping carbon atom in the center.
