A pressure cooker is based on the principle that with the increase in pressure, boiling point of water increases. It works by capturing the steam which increases the pressure in the vessel. Due to increase in pressure the boiling point of water rises up.
When the water inside the pressure cooker boils, the inside pressure is designed to build up to $1kg/sq.cm$ and at this pressure, the corresponding temperature is ${120^o}C$ as against ${100^o}C$ , which is the boiling point of water in conservative cooking. Thus, it increases food cooking speed upto four times. This helps in saving fuel.
Safety precautions while using pressure cooker:
- Read all Instructions before use.
- Before putting the Weight Valve device on the cooker it should be ensured that the steam starts to come
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- Close supervision is necessary when the pressure cooker is used near children.
