Hint: In angiosperms, the receptacle or torus an older term for thalamus is the thickened part of a stem from which flower organs grow. In some accessory fruits, for example- the pome, strawberry, the receptacle gives rise to the edible part of the fruit. The function of thalamus in plants is- it is present near the stalk of the flower. It is an altered trunk that has different nodes and internodes. The thalamus supplies nutrients to the flower.
Complete answer:
As we discussed the thalamus and mostly it occurs in angiosperms. Apple, which is a pome and a simple, charming but false fruit, Fleshy thalamus, which is surrounded by a fleshy thalamus, is edible as the real fruit is present. Similar, loquat examples may also happen.
Now let us know about fleshy thalamus- these are simple fruits which have fleshy pericarp. The simple succulent fruits are of three types: drupe, pome and berries. Drupe are found in mango and berries of course in strawberries.
The terminal part of the pedicel is called the thalamus as we already knew. It is a condensed axis of the flower from which all the floral parts arise. The flowers are three types of hypogynous and epigynous depending on the position of gynoecium on the thalamus in regard to other parts. The thalamus is condensed in many flowers and the internodes are not clearly seen.
Note:
As we knew about the fleshy carp or the edible part of the fruit apple which is a pome. The seeds which are present inside the apple are actually not considered as seeds because they are the extensions of ovule and they actually lack a seed so, these types of fruits are also called as false fruits. Sometimes the fruit can be developed from one ovule and it can be joined.
