Nehru Institute of Mountaineering was established in the year 1965 on 14th November with an aim to pay respect and to honour the great desire of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was the first Prime Minister of India and also an ardent mountain lover.
The institute is located in Uttarkashi in the hill state Of Uttarakhand. The institute runs with an aim to introduce and initiate young men and women and even to the school going children an experience in the mountains and nature through its various mountaineering and adventure courses.
