Hint:Quartzite belongs under the category of rocks which go through a lot of changes which due to Earth’s heat and pressure. Marbella and granite also fall under the same category of rocks.

Complete answer:
Quartzite is a type of rock which is gray, snowy white and sometimes pink in colour. The jointing of this rock is very angular and when put under freezing conditions quartzite breakup into pieces very quickly. This rock produces soil which is barren and very thin since the weathering process of this rock is very slow. Sometimes these rocks protrude as mountain masses or hills. In the United States of America a lot of well known ridges situated in the Appalachian Mountains are made up of quartzite beds which are highly tilted.

When sandstone which was rich in quartz content got exposed to pressures and high temperature of Earth, quartzite was formed. It is a type of metamorphic rock. The condition of high temperature and pressure, under which the earlier mentioned sandstone was put , mixed the quartz grains which resulted in the formation of an equiangular rock which was dense and hard. The name quartzite tells us that other than having a really high degree of hardness this rock also has a very high quartz content. The content of quartz in quartzite rock is more than ninety percent. The difference between a quartz-rich sandstone and pure quartzite is that, when broken, a quartzite will show breakage across quartz grains, but on the other hand a quartz-rich sandstone will break around quartz grains. Also quartzite has a glassy lustre and a sugary surface appearance. Even though quartzite can look very similar to a marble rock yet unlike a marble , quartzite would never fizz whenever it comes in contact with dilute hydrochloric rock.

Hence, the correct answer is option (C).

Note: In India quartzite deposits are big and are found in Rajasthan, near Kota in the district of Bhilwara it is also the main hub for quartzite in India. The extraction and production of almost ninety percent of the quartzite is done in Rajasthan.
