Hint: The bridge is also called the ‘Bridge of Rama’ and it extends between Pamban Island and Mannar Island.

Step by step solution Adam’s Bridge is made up of sand and rock in the Palk strait in between India and Sri Lanka. It is also called Ram’s Bridge or Rama Setu. It is a chain of limestone shoals. Iit lies in between the Pamban island, also called the ‘Rameswaram Island situated off the south-eastern coast of Tamil Nadu and the Mannar Island situated off the north-western coast of Sri Lanka.
According to the geological evidence, this bridge is a former land connection between India and Sri Lanka and it is about 50km long separating the Gulf of Mannar from the Palk Strait. Few of the sandbanks are dry and the sea in that area is very shallow, being just 1-10m deep at places due to which the navigation is hindered.
Some reports say that this bridge was passable on foot up to the 15th century until storms deepened the channel. Few of the temple records said that the Adam’s Bridge was completely above sea level until it broke in a cyclone in 1480s

Option C is correct answer

Note The ancient Indian Sanskrit epic Ramayana written by Valmiki mentions this bridge constructed by Lord Rama with the help of his Vanara (Ape-men) Army to reach Lanka and rescue his wife Sita from Rakshasa king, Ravana. Present day Sri Lanka is interpreted to be the location of Lanka. All this is based on geographical, botanical and folkloristic evidence and no archaeological evidence has been found.
