Hint: When mass of atom is calculated mass of proton and neutron are being considered and not of electron which clearly shows that mass of electron does not contribute to the mass of atom and thus does not taken into consideration for calculation of mass.
Using the above concept we will bring out the comparison between the mass of electron and proton.
Complete answer:
An atom consists of a nucleus which contains neutrons and protons , electrons revolve around the nucleus. Only nucleus contribute to the mass of the atom because protons are heavier in weight than electrons. Electrons revolve around the nucleus in specific orbits and has mass equal to $9.110 \times {10^{ - 28}}g$ .An electron is an elementary particle that it is made up of nothing else while protons are made up of elementary called quarks which can't be further divided.
Mass of Proton is $1.6727 \times {10^{ - 24}}g$ and the mass of the neutron is $1.6750 \times {10^{ - 24}}g$. Thus, we can compare the mass of the electron and proton which clearly shows that the mass of the proton is almost 1836 times heavier than that of electrons.
Although, electrons and protons have equal charge on it but the mass of both the electron and proton is different. Neutrons are electrically neutral, but have equal mass as that of protons.
Therefore, the mass of the proton is almost 1836 times heavier than that of an electron.
Note: Electrons are not only present inside the atomic structure but has many other application such as electronics welding, cathode ray tubes, electron microscopes, radiation therapy, lasers, gaseous ionization detectors and particle accelerators, in chemical bonding by sharing electrons between two molecules.
Using the above concept we will bring out the comparison between the mass of electron and proton.
