Hint: Lithosphere is the outer part of the Earth’s surface and is responsible for protecting the Earth layers inside. There are two systems under which land can be seen, the oceanic land crust is under the ocean and the rest of the ocean are called continental land.

Step by step answer: There are different types of systems found on Earth. They can be divided into four parts called land, water, living things and air. The land is called the lithosphere, the water, the hydrosphere, biosphere consists of living things and the atmosphere, the air. The lithosphere is the outermost part of the Earth covering. It is divided into two parts; oceanic and continental. Oceanic lithosphere is part of the land. Continental crust includes land on which life lives giving a stiff surface to stand and trees to grow. These crusts are divided into tectonic plates which move independently and responsible for the tectonic activity. As oceanic land is denser, it can have more impact on organisms. The layers of the Earth are crust, mantle and core. Lithosphere only includes the crust and uppermost part of the mantle. Oceanic crust is thicker about 50 to 100 km and continental lithosphere is about 150 km thicker.
Hence, the correct answer is option D.

Note: Asthenosphere is the layer below the lithosphere which does not fall under the lithosphere. It is not a part of the lithosphere. It is characterised by its weaker, hotter and deeper part than lithosphere. This hot asthenosphere gets converted into lithosphere with age and causes oceanic lithosphere to get dense when it is cooled.
