Complete Answer:The Great Indian desert is also known as the Thar Desert. It lies in both India and Pakistan in the Indian states of Rajasthan, Gujrat, Haryana, and Punjab, in the Pakistan states of Punjab and Sindh. The desert acts as a natural boundary between India and Pakistan. It covers an overall area of 238,254 sq. km. It is mostly steep rocks, salt lake beds, and meadows while 10% of it is covered in sand dunes. It is a dry subtropical zone because the monsoon bypasses this region because of the winds.
