FAQs on RD Sharma Class 10 Solutions Chapter 9 - Exercise 9.6
1. What is an Arithmetic Progression in easy and simple terms?
An arithmetic sequence or progression can be as a sequence of numbers in which for every pair of consecutive terms i.e. the second number is obtained by adding a fixed number to the first one. It is abbreviated as AP. The fixed number that must be added to any term of an AP to get the next term is known as the common difference of the AP. Now, if we consider the sequence, 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, …etc is considered as an arithmetic sequence with a common difference of 3.
2. What is a Finite and Infinite Arithmetic Progression?
An arithmetic progression is a sequence of numbers related by a “linear” rule. If the first number is a, and the difference between terms is d, then a finite arithmetic progression with n terms is given by
a, a+d, a+2d, …, a+(n−1)d.
An infinite arithmetic progression is such a sequence without the last term. That is, an infinite arithmetic progression is s set.
{a+kd|k∈N},
where N={0,1,2,…} is the set of natural numbers, written in order.
