FAQs on RS Aggarwal Solutions Class 7 Chapter-4 Rational Numbers (Ex 4D) Exercise 4.4
1. What is a rational number and how do you find out rational numbers between two rational numbers?
Any real number which could be expressed in p/q format where q is not equal to zero is rational. A fraction is said to be a rational number if its denominator is not equal to zero. For example, ¼, ⅕, etc., 1/0, 2/0, etc., are not rational numbers as anything divided by zero is infinite and can not be determined. To find out rational numbers between two different rational numbers, you can either find out the equivalent fraction and find the difference or you can find out the mean value of the two rational numbers. Repeat the same process to get the required number of rational numbers between two rational numbers.
2. Are all real numbers rational numbers?
No, all real numbers are not rational numbers. Real numbers also contain irrational numbers. A rational number is a subset of real numbers and hence, all the rational numbers are real numbers.
3. How to identify a rational number?
To identify a rational number:
It should be a real number
It could be expressed in p/q form
The denominator i.e, q should not be equal to zero (0).
4. What is the difference between a positive and negative rational number?
Positive and negative rational numbers are two types. In a positive rational number, as the name suggests, both the numerator “p” and the denominator “q” are positive numbers while in negative rational numbers, either the numerator or the denominator is negative.
