The candidate applying for the NDA exam must be a citizen of India.
A candidate belonging to Nepal or Bhutan is also eligible.
A Tibetan refugee who settles in India before January 1 1962 with the intention of permanent residency can apply for the NDA exam
A person belonging to Indian origin who migrated over from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with an intention of permanent residency in India can apply for the NDA exam.
All those above-mentioned candidates apart from Indian citizens will need a certificate of eligibility being shown which is issued by the Government of India to attend the exam. A certificate of eligibility does not apply to Gorkha candidates who belong to Nepal.
