In the present juncture, Delhi Land Finance (abbreviated as DLF) is the largest publicly listed real estate company in our country, India. It has residential, commercial, and retail properties in around 15 states and in 24 cities working pan India.

DLF was founded in the year 1946 and the company’s first development was a residential colony in the Krishna Nagar, of East Delhi, this was completed in the year 1949. Krishnagar was a big success and thereby it got the belief of the people. After the success of the Krishna Nagar project, DLF has also completed many projects in Delhi like the South Delhi, Kailash colony, Greater Kailash.

In the present time, DLF is being headed by Kushal Pal Singh. According to the Forbes list of richest billionaires in the year 2009, he was the 98th richest man in the world. DLF has about 25 million square feet of the leased office space which is spread across Gurgaon, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, and Chennai. DLF generates about Rs 1950 crore each year.

  • DLF CyperHub won the award for the ‘Best Food & Nightlife Development’ held at the Times Food Awards in the year 2017.

  • The DLF Mall of India won the Mall of the Year (this is National) award in the year 2017.

  • In the year 2016, DLF mall of India was based in Noida, the company won the award for the Best Retail Project of the Year in the year 2015 at CNBC Awaaz Real Estate Awards.

  • The DLF Foundation won the ASSOCHAM Gold Award for the best Skill Development in the year 2016.

  • DLF Capital Greens won the award for the Residential Property of the Year at Realty Plus Conclave & at the Excellence Awards in the year 2016.

  • DLF Cybercity Gurgaon won the award for the Environment-Friendly Project and Developer of the year (in the year 2014 to 15).

  • DLF Emporio won the award for the shopping mall of the Year in the year 2015.

  • DLF Foundation won the Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya Award for Best CSR Practices in Education in the year 2015.

  • DLF won the award for the Top Residential Space Developer in the year 2013.

  • DLF was awarded the Excellence in Horticulture Preservation award by HUDA (Haryana Urban Development Authority) in the year 2006.

DLF IPL

In the year 2008, DLF became the title sponsor of IPL (Indian Premier League) at that time it was a newly formed Twenty20 cricket league. DLF paid almost ₹2 billion (which is US$28 million) for the 5-year sponsorship deal with IPL. The deal ended in 2012, after which it was taken over by PepsiCo Inc.  


HUDA and DLF

Haryana Urban Development Authority (abbreviated as HUDA) and DLF, in a 50: 50 joint venture, have completed their work on a 16- lane, 10.5 km road network in the city Gurgaon. This stretch is from NH8 Toll Plaza to Sector 55/56 in Gurgaon with six underpasses, one flyover, and also freeways, this has improved the traffic management in the city. To create this infrastructure facility, DLF had engaged Parsons Brinckerhoff for managing and consulting this project.

  • After the passage of the Delhi Development Act, in the year 1957, the local government assumed to control the real estate development in Delhi and banned the private real estate developers. As a result of this, DLF began acquiring land at a reasonably low cost outside the area which was controlled by Delhi Development Authority.

  • In the mid-1970s, the company started to develop its DLF City project in Gurgaon. Their plans include hotels, infrastructure, and SEZs.  

  • As recorded on 31st March 2012, the company had around 1,380 square feet of the leased retail space across the country. In the year 2013–14, it leased out over 3 million square ft of office space in India. 

  • In the month of August, in the year 2011, a penalty of ₹6.3 billion (this is around US$88 million) was imposed on DLF by the Competition after finding DLF guilty of breaching the laws regarding the unfair pricing of their goods and services. 

  • The complaint was lodged against DLF by the buyers in its residential projects at Belaire & Park Place, which is located in Gurgaon.

  • In February, in the year 2015, the CCI ordered to investigative arm to probe two more projects of DLF in Gurgaon namely, DLF Regal Gardens and DLF Skycourt.
