JCB  History 

JCB’s full name Joseph Cyril Bamford Excavators Ltd. was founded in 1945 by Joseph Cyril Bamford in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, England. The firm continues to be owned by the Bamford family. In 1953, the company’s first backhoe loader was launched, and the JCB logo came into existence for the first time. The Derby Media and advertising designer Leslie Smith designed the JCB logo. 

In 1957, the firm introduced the “hydra digga” comprising the major loader and excavator as a single multipurpose tool useful for construction and agriculture industries. In 1960, JCB hydraulic tractors were introduced in North America, providing a long-lasting success. JBC became, and still is, the brand leader in the world. 

In 2004, JCB started the production of its first engine named JCB444 diesel engine. In 2005, JCB introduced a company purchasing German equipment from Vibromax. In the same year, the firm first opened its new factory in Pudong china, By 200, the firm had more than 4000 employees, twice what it had in 1975.

Excavators

JCB launched two kinds of excavators, the tracked ones and the wheeled ones. Tracked ones are optimum for slippery mud because they have got huge tracts that dig into anything and wheeled ones are so easy to transport that you can carry them anywhere you need. But both have one thing in common - they shift mud. The excavators are most likely observed on building sites, roadworks, quarries and waterways, and railway maintenance. 

Wheeled Loaders

JCB launched industrial and agricultural wheel loaders from compact 6-tonne hydrostatic machines to larger 25-tonnes quarrying machines using a mix of 4 and 6 cylinder diesel engines. 

Tractors

JCB also made its name in the tractors by producing one such first machine that is capable of traveling at speed on road. In 1990, the firm started JCB's fastrac production. Depending on the model, the JCB Fastrac can travel at 50 km/h, 65 km/h, or 75 km/h (40 mph). 

Military Vehicles 

JCB also manufactures a comprehensive range of military vehicles, which also focus on excavation and load-handling. This includes the JCB HMEE. 

JCB Diesel Max

In April 2006, JCB introduced its diesel-powered and land speed record vehicle known as JCB diesel max. The car is driven by two modified JCB 44 diesel power plants using a two-stage turbocharger to generate 750 bhp, one engine operating the front wheel and the other the rear wheels. 

JCB Vibromax

The German company Vibromax was acquired by the company. Vibromax manufactures compaction equipment.

JCB Phones

JCB permitted its brand for a series of rugged feature phones and smartphones targeted at the construction workforce. The design and marketing contract of JCB phones was awarded to Data Select IN 2000.

JCB Toys

The company is also engaged in selling constructive toys for children of all ages and launched a website dedicated to encouraging outdoor activities for children and their parents.
