SP full name, superintendent of police are the officers of either State police service or Indian police service. They are the district head of non-metropolitan states in India. The SP is also incharge of large urban areas or rural-urban areas where the senior superintendent is the district head. They also act as the staff officers (Staff officer is the Deputy Assistant of the DGP or Director General of Police who is the police chief of the state). Who is SSP?
In India, SSP or senior superintendent of police are the officers of either State Police service or Indian Police service. They hold the powers and responsibility of maintaining law and order and other related issues of metropolitan districts of a state or a union territory of India. The SSP is supported by the junior officers. The SSP rank badge is the state emblem above two stars and is worn with Gorget Patches which have a dark blue background and white line stitched on it. The SSP wear rank badges in their collars. The rank below the SSP is superintendent whereas the rank above the SSP is deputy inspector general of Police who holds Ashoka Emblem above three stars.
