Geographical Location of India in World Map

India is located near the Northern Hemisphere based on its latitude and in Eastern Hemisphere on its longitude. Tropic of Cancer at an angle of 23.50 degrees North from the Equator cuts India’s mainland into two halves. Also, 82.50 degrees east longitude that passes through Allahabad in India is taken as the central meridian for India. Through which the time in India is calculated based on the Greenwich meantime. The total land boundary of India is about 15,106.7 km. The total coastal boundary of India including mainland, Lakshadweep island and Andaman & Nicobar Island is about 7,516.6 km. Since India is a peninsula country, India nearly has one by third of the total boundary was a coastal area. Also, India’s borders are more sensitive in the world, which is based on their geographical location and extreme climatic conditions. After China and Russia, the total length of India’s international borders occupied third place.

List Of India’s Neighbouring Countries

The list of countries neighbouring India is about Nine. Seven countries are sharing their land borders in India and the other two countries sharing their water borders. The list of India’s neighbouring countries, which shares their land borders is here. Bhutan, China and Nepal are sharing their borders in the North of India. Pakistan and Afghanistan are sharing their borders to North West of India. Myanmar is sharing borders in the far East of India. Bangladesh is sharing their borders with East India. Both Sri Lanka and the Maldives are sharing water borders with India. Sri Lanka is located South East of India and the Maldives is located South West of India. 

Among these countries, Afghanistan is sharing the least land surface as the border with India. Bangladesh is sharing the highest land surface as the border with India. Bhutan is the smallest country, that shares a border with India.

Pakistan 

Pakistan sharing its borders with India through the following states and union territories. They are   Rajasthan, Punjab, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Gujarat. Pakistan was located on the coastline of the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman. Before Independence, India and Pakistan were single countries.
