The practical syllabus of Physics Class 10, contains some interesting experiments, related to the theoretical concepts and their applications.

ICSE Class 10 Physics Syllabus – Weightage

The entire paper is of 80 marks, and there are two sections available with 40 marks each. Section I of the Physics paper contains short answer questions of 40 marks and section II also contains 40 marks. In section II, there are 6 questions, and the students are required to solve 4 of them.

As for the practical Examination, it carries a weightage of 20 marks to the final evaluation. Out of the 20 marks, the external Examiner and internal Examiner both allot marks out of 10 each for the students.

Furthermore, based on the ongoing trends, given below is the average unit-wise weightage of the entire Physics course for the final external Examinations:

  • Force, Work, Power, and Energy – 16 to 19 marks

  • Light – 20 to 25 marks

  • Sound – 11 to 18 marks

  • Electricity and magnetism – 20 to 21 marks

  • Heat – 14 to 18 marks

  • Modern Physics – 7 to 11 marks

Benefits of ICSE Physics Syllabus for Class 10

  • CISCE certified Class 10 Physics syllabus according to the understanding of the students, thus it contains the essential concepts from the subject.

  • The structured Vedantu syllabus helps understand the involved topics and subtopics and the sequence to follow for the preparation.

  • The ICSE Physics syllabus for Class 10 helps the students in arranging the study materials based on the involved topics.

FAQs on ICSE Class 10 Physics Syllabus 2024-25

1. Explain the External Examination and Practical Weightage for Physics Class 10.

External Examination paper for Physics Class 10th contains both theory and numerical based questions. The paper carries 80 marks, divided into 40 marks each for two sections. Section I of the paper contains short answer questions of 40 marks and section II contains 6 questions out of which the students must solve any four.

The practical Examination of the subject also carries a total of 20 marks and adds this weightage to the final evaluation. External Examiner and Internal Examiner, both mark the students out of 10 marks each for the practical evaluations.

Finally, practical and external Examinations sum up to a total of 100 marks.

2. Why is the PDF Version of the Physics Syllabus Helpful?

Vedantu PDF version of Physics syllabus is very important and helpful for the entire preparation of the students, because they are easily downloadable and accessible on any device, thus making sure that the students can use them according to their comfort.

3. What is a  Cathode Ray Tube as discussed in ICSE Class 10 Physics?

The picture tube of the Television is a Cathode Ray Tube or CRT, an instrument that converts the input electrical signals into the affair visual signals.

It's comprised of about three major assemblies

  • Electron Gun - It has two batteries, one low pressure and one high pressure, a switch, variable resistance, cathode plate, tungsten hair, control grid, and double anode cylinders.

  • Diverting Plates The diverting plates correspond to two dyads of flat plates. One brace of plates is kept vertical. These are called Y- plates. Vertically placed are the other brace of plates. They are called X – plates. All of these plates are placed with their planes resemblant to the electron ray.

  • Fluorescent Screen - It is a flat glass plate placed in the end of the tube. Its inside face is carpeted with material that is fluorescent.

The three assemblies are put together in a long concave evacuated glass tube.

Three principles on which hot shaft cathode tube works

  • Thermionic emigration

  • Deviation of the electron ray by the electric and glamorous fields

  • On a fluorescent screen, Luminescence is produced by the electron ray

  • Fluorescent materials similar as zinc sulphide or barium platinocyanide or zinc silicate containing some traces of manganese etc are the components of  the fluorescent screen.

4. What are the properties of alpha/nascence particles as discussed in ICSE Class 10 Physics?

Properties of nascence patches

  • A nascent flyspeck consists of two protons and two neutrons.

  • The mass of a nascence flyspeck is roughly four times the mass of a proton.

  • The speed of nascence patches is of the order of 107 m s-1.

  • A nascence flyspeck explosively ionises the gas through which it passes.

  • A nascent flyspeck fleet loses its energy as it moves through a medium and thus its penetration power is relatively small.

  • Nascence patches are appreciatively charged, so they're veered by the electric and glamorous fields.

  • Nascence patches affect a photographic plate.

  • Nascence patches beget luminescence on striking a fluorescent material.

  • Nascence patches have large kinetic energy and instigation with them.

  • Nascence patches destroy the living cells and they beget natural damage.

  • Nascence patches get scattered while passing through the thin mica (or gold) foils.

5. What are the properties of Beta particles/patches as taught in ICSE Class 10 Physics?

Properties of Beta patches

  • Beta patches are the fast-moving electrons emitted from the nexus of a snippet.

  • The rest mass of a Beta flyspeck is9.1 x 10-31 kg and its charge is –1.6 x 10-19 C (or – e).

  • Beta patches are given out from the nexus whereas the cathode shafts are given out from the orbital electrons.

  • The speed of Beta patches is of the order of 108 m s-1.

  • Beta patches ionise the gas through which they pass.

  • The piercing power of Beta patches is further than that of nascence patches.

  • Beta patches are negatively charged, so they're veered by the electric and glamorous fields.

  • Beta patches affect a photographic plate.

  • Beta patches beget luminescence on striking a fluorescent material.

  • Beta patches produce X-rays when they're stopped by the essence of high infinitesimal numbers and high melting points similar to tungsten.

  • Beta patches beget lesser natural damage as they can fluently pass through the skin of our body.
