Students can visit the SOF official website for the detailed syllabus, mock papers, and reference books. The objective behind conducting the exam is to see the proficiency of students in the English language along with effective communication and not to just see their grammatical skills.

IEO Class 4 Exam Pattern

The IEO exam is divided into four sections with 35 questions for 40 marks.

  • The first three sections namely, word and structure knowledge, reading, spoken and written expressions contain 30 questions for 1 mark each.

  • The last section is the achievers' section which comprises 2 questions for 5 marks each.

  • The last and fourth section is higher-order thinking questions which are considered challenging and comparatively hard.

In order to know more about the detailed syllabus, we recommend you to check this website.

Ranking in the IEO Examination

Students are ranked based on the marks that they score. So a student with higher marks will have a higher rank than someone who has lower marks than the said student. For students scoring the same marks, they are ranked based on the priority of the sections. The section-wise priority rank goes as follows:

  1. Achievers Section.

  2. Word and structure knowledge.

  3. Reading.

  4. Spoken and written expression.

The Achievers section is given the most priority because it is considered to be the most challenging set that tests the student’s ability to put two or more concepts together in order to get to the correct answers. Although the syllabus remains the same as the previous three sections, the level of difficulty is higher here. For instance, having the right knowledge of vocabulary as well as grammar will be required in the achievers’ section, while either of them can get you to the right answer in the previous three sections.
