1. I and my Friend Wish to Enroll for IMO. How Will We Get Our Roll Number?
The Coordinating teacher of the school will produce the student's SOF Mathematics Exam Roll Numbers in accordance with the Foundation’s given guidelines. A copy of these roll numbers must be sent to the SOF office together with the School Registration Form (SRF) and Student's Registration Sheet (SRS) prior to the due date of forms submission. SOF will list the registering school and the students and further dispatch question papers and instructions for conducting the examination.
2. I am from CBSE Board based in Uttar Pradesh. Is My School Eligible to Hold an IMO Exam?
Any school can be registered as a center for IMO conducted by SOF. No fee is needed from the institution registering to be the examination center. Minimum 10 students are required to be registered from each school for SOF IMO. The IMO for Level 1 will be held on the dates as specified for Classes 1 to 12. Each school can choose a date for conducting the SOF IMO as per its ease. Please note that each exam on the dates has a different question paper. Change of date for conducting the SOF IMO by schools is not permitted by the Foundation.
3. How Much Do I Need to Pay Towards SOF IMO Registration Fees?
You are obliged to pay a nominal charge of INR 125 (inclusive of 18% GST) towards the cost of the examination. The amount is payable by each student participating from schools based in India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. For other countries, the charge is USD 9 per student. In addition, the school is liable to collect an amount of INR 25 from each student towards allowance of administering, remuneration to teachers for imparting training, supervise using study material supplied by the Foundation, and other miscellaneous expenses.
4. Is the Amount Payable by Indian and International Schools Towards IMO Registration the Same?
No, the fee for IMO registration for students in India and International schools (other than Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh) is not the same. While students from the aforementioned countries are required to pay Rs. 125 (per student inclusive of GST), the amount to be paid by students of other International schools is USD 9. Additionally, the addendum fee charged also varies. While it is Rs. 25 for schools in India, Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh, it is USD 1 for students in other countries.
5. When is the right time to register for IMO?
If you plan to give the exam, the right time would be as early as possible. Once the registration process begins is the ideal time. Timely registration will remove the element of any last-minute madness to your preparation. The registrations do not take place throughout the year, so be aware and register when you get the chance.
6. Where will the IMO registration be done?
The registration for the IMO can be easily done at your school with your teachers or faculty in charge. It is usually the school staff who makes the students aware of the conduction of IMO and other exams. If your school is not conducting the SOF supported IMO, you would have to register online through the website of the International Maths Olympiad. The online registration process is also simple. One needs to log in and then provide the required details, complete payment and the registration is complete.
As many students register for the IMO therefore it is a good idea to register as soon as possible. The exam requires practice and preparation, so the sooner one makes up the mind to appear for the mind and register, the better it is.
