INMO Eligibility

INMO is a highly competitive exam that allows students to have in-depth knowledge of the topics covered in the syllabus. Candidates who have been awarded as the INMO merit awardees for the previous INMO examination are invited to write the exam directly and every year nearly 900 students qualify for the INMO examination. Selection Criteria Eligibility Criteria for INMO 2024-25 Examination

To write the INMO 2024-25 examination, the candidates are first required to write the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) of their respective state or zone. There are a few criteria that the candidates need to qualify in order to be eligible for the INMO 2024-25 examination. The given below criteria are required to be fulfilled if a candidate wants to qualify for the INMO 2024-25 examination.

  • The candidates should be 28 years of age before they fill the INMO 2024 application form.

  • The candidates who have been selected for the INMO examination are truly based on their performance in the primary stage test which is the Regional Mathematical Olympiad(RMO).

  • From grades 8, 9, 10, and 11, a maximum of 28 students, and from grade 12 a maximum of 6 students are selected to participate in the HBCSE INMO in each region.

  • When there is a tie between the scores of two candidates, The Pre-Regional math Olympiad(Pre RMO) score will be considered as the tiebreaker. In a case where even the Pre RMO score fails to break the score, the final list submitted to the HBCSE will consider all the candidates.

  • Additionally, five additional girls are selected (Only girl students from grades 8, 9, 10, and 11) excluding the candidates for each region.

  • A minimum of five students from the Non-Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) CBSE schools outside India and a maximum of five students studying in the KV schools outside India may be chosen to appear for the INMO 2024 examination directly. The selection of the students is mainly done by the authorities of the CBSE and KVS.

  • 28 students were selected from each region and allowed to sit for the INMO examination and usually the INMO examination is held in the month of February but due to the covid crisis in our country, the official dates are not yet announced. A total of 30 candidates qualify for the INMO 2024-25 examination out of the 500 candidates. The 30 qualified candidates are then sent to the month-long training at the HBCSE to prepare for the International Math Olympiad.

  • After the training camp is concluded only the best six candidates are chosen to represent our country for the International Math Olympiad(IMO).

1. How do You Qualify for INMO?

Ans: In order for the candidates to appear for INMO 2024-25 examination, the candidates should first write the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) of their respective state.   • Candidates who plan to pursue a career in mathematics can apply for an NBHM scholarship of Rs 2,500 per month. Furthermore, if they have a special interest in Mathematics but do not study it as a subject, they are eligible for an annual cash award of Rs 9,000.

  • INMO qualifiers are also qualifying for the Kishore VaigyanikProtsahanYojana (KVPY) fellowship if they continue their scientific studies in India. This fellowship pays Rs. 4000 a month.

  • There are also cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000, and Rs 3,000 for those who win gold, silver, or bronze at IMO.

  • The candidates become automatically eligible to get a seat in the B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics course at the Chennai Mathematical Institute.

  • The candidates can directly appear for the interview for B. Stat or B. Math courses at the prestigious Indian Statistical Institute (ISI).

3. What is the Structure of the INMO 2024-25 Examination?

Ans: The INMO 2024-25 examination paper consists of six problems to be solved in four hours. The entire question paper is of 102 marls and the marks are distributed equally with all six questions. The six questions which are given are very difficult to answer and  These problems are in the fields of algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics. Calculus is not covered in the test, but students are permitted to solve problems using calculus-based methods.

  • They are immediately accepted into the Chennai Mathematical Institute's B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics program.

  • They will also appear for an interview for the prestigious Indian Statistical Institute's B. Stat or B. Math courses (ISI).

Candidates who want to pursue mathematics as a subject in college will apply for an NBHM scholarship worth Rs 2,500 per month. 

5. What is the Registration Process for the INMO 2024-25 Examination?

Ans: Students should be aware that INMO does not have a specific registration mechanism. Students who pass the prior stage (IOQM) and INMO merit awardees from the previous year are granted direct entry. Every year, approximately 900 students are chosen to give the INMO exam based on a variety of requirements. From these 900 students, only 35 students are selected to be trained for a month for the International Math olympiad. 6. If a student is willing to write the INMO Exam 2024-25, can he write it directly or do he need to meet any criteria?

Ans: The applicant's academic performance is not taken into account by INMO. As a result, academic success in various classes is not a prerequisite for applying to the INMO 2024-25. However, you must first pass the HBCSE Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) exam before sitting for INMO. Furthermore, the INMO exam is the third step on the ladder leading to the ultimate sixth level, the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). 7. How Can the Candidates Download the INMO 2024-25 Examination Admit Card?

Ans: The IOQM results were announced, and the organizing committee published a consolidated list of deserving students. The INMO 2024-25 exam is only accessible to those who have passed the previous level. Students can use their INMO admit card by logging in.
