Eligibility For Pre RMO

Pre RMO stands for Pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad. Pre RMO or Pre RMO is a preliminary round conducted for the selection of candidates in the Regional Mathematical Olympiad. Students who are interested in mathematics-related competitions must take part in Pre RMO, the first step to the Indian Mathematical Olympiad. However, before registering for the exam, Students must be aware of the Pre RMO eligibility criteria set by the exam authority. Pre RMO 2024-25 Exam Eligibility Criteria

Know the Eligibility Norms of Pre RMO Exam

Given below are the major Pre RMO eligibility 2024-25 as set by the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) which is in charge of the mathematical olympiad activity:

  • Candidates must be born on or after August 1, 2003, to be eligible to apply for Pre RMO 2024-25.

  • Candidates studying in Class 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 are eligible to appear in the Pre RMO exam.

  • Only Indian citizens will be allowed to write the Pre RMO examination. Candidates who are the holders of Overseas Citizenship of India or OCI cards can also take the exam. However, there is one condition, they will not be eligible for selection in the International Mathematical Olympiad.

Students must ensure that they meet the eligibility norms set by the authorities. If they are found to be disobeying the eligibility rules, their candidature can be cancelled at any stage. No exception, whatsoever, will be granted to candidates. Once you are aware that you satisfy the eligibility requirements, you can proceed with filling up the registration form. Candidates are required to pay a registration fee of Rs 230. However, Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) are supposed to pay a reduced fee of 125 and 100 respectively.

Ans: Pre Regional Mathematics Olympiad or PRMO exam is the first tier of the, 5 stages long, mathematical olympiad programme (MOP). The first stage exam (Pre-RMO exam) is conducted by the Mathematics Teachers’ Association. This is under the supervision of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). And the rest 4 stages of the programme are conducted directly by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). HBCSE is appointed to organise this exam by the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM).
