1. How can I Qualify for RMO?
Ans: The International Mathematical Olympiad exam comprises 5 stages- The pre-regional Mathematical Olympiad, Regional Mathematical Olympiad, IMO Training Camp, Indian National Mathematical Olympiad-departure Camp, and International Olympiad. Upon clearing the PRMO, candidates are eligible to appear in the second stage that is RMO.
Around 30 students are selected from Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO), to sit for INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad). Additionally, five girls are also chosen for the next level. At the same time, 60 students are selected from class 12 from each region other than JNV and KV schools. Moreover, for JNV and KV schools up to 5% of the top performers from classes 8, 9, 10, 11, and 1% from class 12 qualify for RMO.
2. What is the Syllabus for RMO?
Ans: The syllabus for RMO mostly includes basic mathematics for the respective classes. The syllabus covers topics from Class 9 and Class 10 levels. Some of the various topics covered in the RMO Examination are:
The arithmetic of integers.
Permutations and Combinations.
Inequalities, Coordinate geometry.
Geometry, Trigonometry.
Factorization of polynomials.
Quadratic equations and expressions.
System of linear equations.
Elementary combinatorics.
Elementary graph theory.
The candidates also need to practice graph theory and number theory. Moreover, for RMO preparation, a student should have the information that the difficulty level will increase with each stage of the Olympiad and prepare for the selection procedure accordingly.
3. Is There Any Age Limit for the International Mathematics Olympiad?
Ans: Candidates who are willing to apply for the International Mathematics Olympiad must be under 20 years of age. Also, they shall not be from any kind of tertiary educational institution.
4. How to access the RMO admit cards?
Ans: The official authorities in charge of organizing the RMO 2024-25 will issue the admission cards to the eligible candidates. Only those applicants who have submitted the application form in its entirety and who meet the RMO eligibility criteria will get admit cards for the exam. The candidates will be able to obtain information on the admit card on the official website in an online format, as the authorities will update the information on the website. Applicants who wish to take the exam are advised to get their admission cards from the website.
