IOM 2024-25: Exam Pattern

The International Olympiad of Mathematics (IOM) is an examination conducted to test the competence and knowledge of school students in Mathematics. This exam, held annually is based on the syllabus designed by CBSE, ICSE and the State Boards and is conducted both at national and international levels.

Structure of IOM Olympiad

The Silverzone Foundation conducts the International Olympiad of Mathematics every year. This examination comprises 3 different stages. After passing every stage, students get qualified for the next level. 

  • For level 1, all students from Classes 1 to 12 are encouraged to register for the examination.

  • The top 1000 Olympiad rank holders from level 1  are chosen for the level 2. Apart from this, all the top rank holders in every class of the participating schools are also eligible to apply for the level 2. 

  • The rank holders in the 2nd level will be allowed to sit for the level 3 that takes place in New Delhi, India. 

Admit Card

  • The schools participating in the IOM examination are given the hall ticket or admit card, two-three weeks prior to the examination. 

  • It is mandatory for the students to carry their respective admit cards to the examination hall. 

  • The admit card has in it all the important details such as the name of the student, parents’ name, date, guidelines, etc. 

  • For easier access, candidates can directly download their admit cards from the website of Silverzone Foundation.

  • It is advised that candidates should double-check all the information on the admit cards and make corrections if need be.

  • Language of Exam: The Silver Zone IOM 2024-25 exam will be organized only in the English language.

  • Duration of Exam: The candidates will get 1 hour to complete the Silver Zone IOM 2024-25 exam paper.

  • Mode of Exam: The Silver Zone IOM 2024-25 exam will be scheduled through offline mode in the school itself.

  • Type of Questions: The Silver Zone IOM 2024-25 question paper will have only multiple-choice questions (MCQ).

  • Sections: The Silver Zone IOM 2024-25 exam paper will have 3 sections as mentioned below.

  1. Mathematics

  2. Reasoning and Aptitude

  3. Scholar’s Zone.

  • No of Questions:

  • Grade 1 to 10- 40 questions.

  • Grade 11 & 12- 50 questions.

1. What are the eligibility criteria for IOM?

Ans: In the case of the level 1 examination, any student from classes 1-12 is eligible to apply and register for the examination. The Indian students studying abroad are also given the opportunity to participate in the examination.

Students who clear the level 1 examination are promoted to sit for the level 2 of IOM. Apart from this, toppers from every class of the schools participating are also eligible to apply for the exam, but they need to have scored a minimum of 75 percent.
