Question Paper Pattern of the CBSE Class 12 English Examination 2017-18

It is important to know the question pattern of your final exam, therefore, it is here as mentioned below:

  • Do not exceed the prescribed word limit while answering the questions of the CBSE class 12 English paper. 

  • Part A of the CBSE class 12 English paper consists of a total of 40 marks and objective questions.

 

PART- A 

Reading the Comprehension (20 Marks) 

  • Multiple Choice Questions based on the one unseen passage to assess the comprehension, interpretation, and inference. The vocabulary and the inference of meaning will also be assessed. 

  • Multiple Choice Questions based on one of the unseen case-based factual passages with verbal as well as virtual inputs like the statistical data, charts, newspaper report, etc. Ten out of the eleven questions to be done. This consists of a total of 10 marks.

  • Multiple Choice Questions based on the two prose extracts. One each from the books of Flamingo and Vistas to assess the comprehension and the appreciation. 

  • Multiple Choice Questions based on two prose extracts from the book Flamingo to assess comprehension, analysis, and also inference.  

  • Text-based questions to assess the comprehension, analysis, inference, and also the interpretation from the books of Flamingo as well as Vistas. 8 out of 10 questions to be done. This consists of a total of 8 marks.

 

PART- B

  1.  Notice or Advertisement up to 50 words of 3 marks.

  2. Formal or Informal invitation up to 50 words of 3 marks. 

  3. Letters based on verbal or visual input up to 120 to 150 words of 5 marks. 

  4. Article or report writing up to 120 to 150 words of 5 marks. 

  5. Five short answer type questions of 10 marks.

  6. Two short-answer type questions of 4 marks. 

  7. One long answer type question of five marks. 

  8. One long answer type question based on the chapters of 5 marks.
