The total syllabus of class 10 Second Indian Language - Sanskrit paper is of 100 marks. But 20 marks are for internal assessments, so the written paper becomes only 80 marks. The written paper of the Sanskrit exam is divided into two sections, the first section is of language and the other is of literature (prescribed text). Both of these sections are worth 40 marks each. The literature section includes the questions from the text-books written in the syllabus.

The language section of the Second Indian Language - Sanskrit worth a total of 40 marks. These 40 marks are further divided into four parts, these four parts are -
Composition: Worth 15 marks, this part targets to test the students ability to write paragraphs in the language of Sanskrit.
Letter: letter writing skills are tested in this part and it is worth 7 marks in total.
Compression: The part tries to know the student’s ability to read and understand a simple text. And it is worth 10 marks.
Grammar: It tests the students' knowledge of the grammatical concepts.
