What is a River and Its Importance?

Rivers are the large natural flow of water that goes across the sea and falls into the ocean. Rivers can be wide,  long, shallow, and deep depending upon their volume and flow of water. The starting point of the river is called headwater from where the river begins to fall. The source of headwater can be snowmelt in mountains, rainfall, or from the edge of a large lake, etc. The ending or terminating point of the river is called the mouth where the river falls into larger sources of water such as lakes or oceans. The source and the mouth of the river are considered for calculating the length of the river. Rivers are important for the existence of human life.
