Importance of Maharashtra Board Marathi Class 10 Chapter 2 Summary

The poem in the 10th Class Marathi Swadhyay called Ankila Me Daas Tujha is written by Sant Namdev and hence it is called Santvani which means the Voice of the Saint. In this Santvani poem, the Sant Namdev has an urge from Lord Vitthal. He urges the Lord to look after him like a mother would look after her own child. He considers himself to be a devotee of Lord Vitthal and surrenders at his feet.

The poet mentions some examples of a mother’s love in the poem. He says when a child is caught in a fire, the mother rushes to save her baby. Just like that, when a calf is hungry, the mother cow feeds her baby. When a baby bird is about to fall down from the nest, the mother bird swoops down and saves the baby bird. Also, when there is a commotion in the forest, a deer’s heart immediately cries for her fawn and she goes to look for him. Just like those cases, he wants the Lord to care for him and love him. He compared Lord Vitthal to a cloud filled with water i.e., love. He calls himself the Chatak bird, which cannot live without rainwater and implores the Lord to shower the rain or his love upon him.
