Although the SOF IGKO is a single-level exam, the results are announced at four levels: school, city, zonal, and world. IGKO 2023-24: Eligibility Criteria

  • Any student studying in an authorised school in India with recognised and reputed boards such as CBSE, ICSE, ISC, and other state boards is eligible to take the exam.

  • To be eligible to take the exam, students from these schools must be in Classes 1 to 10.

  • Students enrolled in any secondary school run by the government of India and affiliated with any recognised board are eligible to take the exam.


What is the Syllabus for IGKO?

The IGKO Syllabus is available for download on the SOF's official website. It includes all facets of the school's educational needs. The following is a summary of the syllabus for each section covered in IGKO.

IGKO Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme 2023-24 

Classes 1 to 4 and classes 5 to 10 have different IGKO Exam pattern 2023-24. It is an objective-type test with 35 multiple-choice questions for classes 1 to 4 and 50 multiple-choice questions for classes 5 to 10. The test has a 60-minute time limit for everyone. IGKO Registration Process 2023-24

  • Each applicant must pay an examination fee of Rs 125/- as part of the application process.

  • A minimum of ten students should be enrolled in each institution.

  • The Olympiad can be hosted on any day that the school finds suitable.

  • For children in grades 1 to 4, the question paper consists of 35 objective-type questions that must be answered in 60 minutes.

  • For students in grades 5 through 10, the question paper consists of 50 objective-type questions that must be answered in 60 minutes.

  • During the school day, the exam will take place. 


Schools may choose one date to hold an Olympiad exam at their location. It is not possible to change the date. For each date, there are individual question papers. Schools may transmit registrations 30 days before the exam's scheduled date. Registrations can be sent for all tests at once or for each exam separately.


You can register for the IGKO 2023-24 exam through your school or on your own (individually). We've walked you through the application procedure in both directions. To register for IGKO, follow the below-given steps.

  • Students in Classes 1 to 10 can register for the SOF IGKO exam through their schools. A brochure comprising student enrollment forms is sent to all Science Olympiad Foundation-registered schools. If your school has not yet registered, you may visit the official website of SOF to get the required information. Schools must submit the registration forms to SOF after the forms have been filled out completely by pupils.

  • Students' Roll Numbers will be generated by the school's coordinating instructors according to the instructions provided. Before the deadline, provide a copy of the roll numbers, as well as the Students' Registration Sheet (SRS) and School Registration Form (SRF), to the SOF Foundation's office.

  • SOF will register the school and its students after receiving the registration forms from the schools. Then, to assist students, they give out sample papers and exam instructions. Any school can register at a SOF Olympiad centre. To become a registered examination centre, they do not have to pay any fees. The only stipulation is that each school must enrol a minimum of 10 students in the SOF IGKO exam.

If their school is unable to participate, students can apply for the IGKO exam online using the steps outlined below.

  • For further information about IGKO exam registration, go to the official website of SOF.

  • Fill in all of the fundamental information, such as the school address, the school name, the student name, the class, the gender, the section, and so on. Make sure all the information is right, as your roll number, test links, and guidelines, among other things, will be delivered to you by SMS or email at the time of registration.

  • Select the Olympiad exam you want to take as ‘IGKO’ on the next step.

  • Choose the method of book delivery. You have the option of going online or offline.

  • To proceed with the registration payment, enter the captcha correctly and click on "Submit".

  • You will complete your registration after the exam fees and book prices (if applicable) have been paid.

For Level 1, the SOF IEO is held on three days. Each school may choose a date for the SOF IGKO that is convenient for them. There is a distinct question paper for each exam date. It is not possible to change the date of the SOF IGKO.


IGKO Exam Results 2023-24 

The results of the IGKO Exam are declared within 8 weeks of each examination. The results will be sent to the respective schools. The results are also made available on the official website of the Exam conducting body (SOF).


IGKO Rewards

  • First-place winners will get INR 50,000 in cash, a gold medal, and a certificate of excellence at the international level.

  • Second-place winners will receive INR 25,000 awards, a silver medal, and a certificate of remarkable achievement.

  • Third-place winners will receive INR 10,000 awards, a bronze medal, and a certificate of remarkable achievement.

At the Zonal Level, Awards Include:

  • First-place finishers will receive a total of 260 awards of INR 5,000 each, as well as a gold medal and a certificate of zonal excellence.

  • Second-place finishers will receive a total of 260 INR 2,500 in prizes, a silver medal, and a certificate of zonal excellence.

  • Third-place finishers will receive INR 1,000 in cash, a bronze medal, and a certificate of zonal excellence.

  • Each of the 1820 prizes comprised a gift of INR 1,000, a medal of distinction, a certificate of distinction, and a certificate of zonal excellence for students in the fourth through tenth grades.

  • All participants with a score of 26 or higher will receive a participation certificate.
